Contemporary garden Kilburn
This design was intended to reflect the modern interior of the house. The children have grown up and therefore the play house and swing where nolonger needed and the square garden lacked any focal point. The design was intended to create a garden for adult meals with a new slate patio to catch the evening sun at the back of the garden. The existing pergola and deck was reduced and remodelled to make room for a new slatted fence, planting and patio.
The furniture was chosen in conjuntion with the design. The planting and paint work were themed with the slate to create a garden of silvers and violets and whites. Using several olive trees against a back drop of a silver grey slatted fence, the planting is soft and loose with a back bone of new shrubs and making use of the existing architectural bamboo and Cordyline.
The clients scupture is incoporated into the garden with low, loose planting around it’s feet . Stainless steel down lighters and uplighters are used o light up planting around the patio.
The turf is high quality astro turf to withstand the traffic of a family of labradors. This is a good example of how astroturf can be made to look natural within a soft planting scheme
